Too often there’s too little time to say goodbye and too much time to think about it afterward

“I am a flawed person. A brook with many stones, a clear blue sky with many blackbirds. I have many shortcomings. A rainbow that’s not long enough, a starry night with clouds. But I can only be thankful to God who loves me just this way, and I can only be grateful to the people in my life who accept the clear blue sky with many blackbirds and who are patient with the rainbow that isn’t long enough. And because of this, I am taught love.”

-C. JoyBell C.

“Life’s just a bunch of accidents, connected by one perfect end.”

-Daniel C. Tomas

"The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams."

-Oprah Winfrey

"Dusk is just an illusion because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are - there cannot be one without the other yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel to be always together yet forever apart?"

- Nicholas Sparks

What is family?

They were the people who claimed you. In good, in bad, in parts or in whole, they were the ones who showed up, who stayed in there, regardless. It wasn’t just about blood relations or shared chromosomes, but something wider, bigger. We had many families over time. Our family of origin, the family we created, and the groups you moved through while all of this was happening: friends, lovers, sometimes even strangers. None of them perfect, and we couldn’t expect them to be. You can’t make any one person your world. The trick was to take what each could give you and build your world from it.

-Sarah Dessen

"I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can’t see from the centre."

-Kurt Vonnegut

“I stopped wanting to float away from my life, because in the end my life was all I had. I’d look up to the sky and I wouldn’t see myself drifting off like some lost balloon. Instead I saw the size of the world and found comfort in its hugeness. There is always hope. The world is vast and meant for wandering. There is always somewhere else to go.”

-Nick Burd, The Vast Fields of Ordinary
